As you will have seen (those recently at Shobnall) the Ellis Astro is taking fantastic shape.
The penultimate site meeting is Wednesday 14th October with the contractors and more detailed arrangements on when the pitch will be available to us will be known then.
There have been a few delays around the sand filling, which was due to start when the rain came in September, so this was postponed for around 5 days – knocking some other work back in the timeline but as you will see from the pictures the transformation since the 17th August is amazing.
We have yet to see how the new facility suits our play and after all the design thoughts in the world – ultimately it was the budget that dictated the surface and we sincerely hope it is to your liking.
The availability of the pitch for the entire club to train and play on will not only bring us back together administratively, voluntarily and socially but also allow us to gain “home advantage” down at THE ELLIS. Peter would have loved that!
Goals, Dug Outs and the Admin Block are under consideration of the development group with orders placed to get ourselves operational. In order to help with this we put in a “fortune favours the brave” bid to the local Burton Consolidated Charity – whom own and let many of the building you see around Burton Town Centre – and invest the incoming rental funds in local good causes. Steve and I went for £21,000 to cover these items and their investment committee agreed that the opportunity this facility will afford to youngsters was very valuable and awarded the funds – which is tremendous to ensure a safe and smooth transition for our Academy to the pitch plus will allow us to further this work into schools and colleges.
Therefore with hope and a fair wind we could be playing some games on the Ellis in Mid November whilst retaining our other Shobnall slots and gradually move away from Uttoxeter & Repton (Derby & Lichfield)
Please keep your eye on the website and emails because as the time draws nearer we will release messages in the forum to keep our members up to date.
On a secondary note the new outdoor changing rooms are underway and scheduled for completion in the middle of January. This will provide 10 “team” changing areas with showers/toilet – similar to those at Highfields (Beeston) or West Bridgford for those who have visited those clubs. However, changing will be tight until they are ready and start times across the The Ellis and the Shobnall pitch will be staggered by half an hour to allow the two changing areas currently available to used for both matches.
Please find attached the Fixture Schedule – upto and including Saturday 14th November 2015 and 4 pictures from the same vantage point as The Ellis has developed!
Best Wishes and exciting times!
