An Outstanding Evening of Entertainment
Sporting Dinner, PAUL MERSON at “The Albion” Thursday,June 15th.
The Burton Hockey Club is determined to continue with its commitment to Local Sport and Youth Development. In the last five years since 2012 the Club has raised“Funding” in excess of £500,000 to create our very own , outstanding Astro-turf facility, at the local Shobnall Leisure Centre……named “ The Ellis Astro” in memory of former President, Peter Ellis whose generous legacy started the “ball” rolling. A wonderful achievement following the London Olympics.
Essential funds are now required to ensure a smooth path forward ; maintenance, equipment, Academy and Coaching Costs together with a need to ensure that the “Sinking Fund”, insisted upon by our Grant providers , is fully funded up to date.
The Club’s Youth Academy and partnerships with local Colleges and Schools for both Boys and Girls are all flourishing…………confirmed and seen in action as young players come through to claim selection within the Senior sides.
Our previous Sporting Dinners with Gareth Chilcott and Jimmy Greaves were outstanding occasions at St. George’s Park…HOWEVER….for 2017 The Dinner has moved to the home of the Brewers “ At The Albion” Pirelli Stadium , scene of another great Sporting Story and rise to Championship Football. A splendid venue, local and easily accessible !
Our Guest Speaker ,on Thursday, June 15 th., will be PAUL MERSON with an outstanding track record for entertainment value ! I hope very much that you will wish to support once again,or even for the first time, as we endeavour to move forward on our mission to encourage “Sport” amongst the Youth of the Burton upon Trent area .
A Great Evening is promised ………an occasion for both Ladies and Gentlemen ……..
Please make sure that the Date is in the Diary !
Let me know if you would like to join us and I will ensure a suitable Table selection for you; Should you wish to take a Table of TEN or even sponsor a Table for best position etc. as perhaps a “Corporate” supporter….shout and I will be straight back to you !
Finally ….with my begging bowl in hand…Value Items for “ The Auction “ are much needed to complete the “Fund Raising Job “ on the Night. Let me know if you can help and as always we will be so happy to organise collection…….Many thanks…….
Willie Welch, President, Burton Hockey Club.
